The Gwinnett County Probate Court keeps and manages access to county marriage records. These include applications for a marriage license, marriage licenses, and marriage certifications. A marriage license is the document that allows a couple to legally marry and the marriage certificate proves the marriage.

Certified copies of marriage certificates cost $10. Copies of marriage records should be made in person, by mail, or by calling 770.822.8250. The Probate Court does not accept electronic requests, but such requests may be made through the VitalChek website. This service charges additional fees. To request records by mail, Marriage Certificate / Application Request Form is available on the Probate Court’s website. This form, a self-addressed stamped envelope, and a check or money order made payable to the Gwinnett County Probate Court should be included in the mailed request.

Divorce records are held by the Gwinnett Clerk of Court. Divorce records typically include basic information about the parties involved, the grounds for divorce, child custody and support arrangements, division of property and assets, and any restraining or protective orders and/or court orders and decrees.
